Lebanon
Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz outlined that Israel wants to create a buffer zone up to the Litani River in Lebanon. Israel destroyed five bridges along the Litani River and has begun demolishing homes along the Israel-Lebanon border, targeting Hezbollah and not civilians, according to the IDF. Israel warned the Lebanese government that they will occupy territory if the government did not disarm Hezbollah. Katz stated that Israel would hold this security zone until the Hezbollah threat is gone.
Iran
Iranian police arrested 466 people for online activities aimed at undermining national security. According to Iranian state media, Iranian police have arrested more than 1,000 people for filming sensitive locations, sharing anti-government content online, or “cooperating with the enemy”. This latest sweep would make it the largest since the war began.
Pakistan is willing to host peace talks between the US and Iran to help end the conflict. The White House is describing the possibility of Pakistan providing mediation between the Iranian government and Pakistan as “fluid”.
United States
A recent court ruling is being ignored by the Department of War. A federal judge deemed the 2025 changes to press access unconstitutional. The Department of War will close the correspondent’s corridor, and the press will need to be escorted into the building. The press will also have office space outside the Pentagon, but still within the property. The National Press President stated that “Closing the Correspondents’ Corridor and forcing escorted access undermines independent reporting at the Pentagon.”
North Korea
Kim Jong-un vows that its nuclear arsenal is “irreversible” and that North Korea will soon designate South Korea as the most hostile state toward the North. He went further to state that the US is committing state terrorism against Iran and vowed that North Korea would stand against foreign threats.
Russia
Bureau 1440, a Russian aerospace company, launched its first batch of low-orbit communication satellites aimed at competing with Starlink. Sixteen satellites were launched, but it will take some time to complete the communication constellation, which will require more than 900 satellites.
Russia is increasing its military recruitment efforts at Russian post-secondary institutions. Army recruiters target low-grade students, especially around exam time and attempt to influence them with a high signing bonus.
