Greenland

US President Trump continues to make comments about the US taking over Greenland. There are reports that he has ordered the US military to draw up plans for such a military operation. He claims that Chinese and Russian naval ships “are all over the place”. US officials are meeting Danish officials on Wednesday.

Yemen

The Southern Transitional Council, a separatist faction within Yemen, announced its disillusionment. The leader of the STC fled the country to the UAE and announced its disbanding, while other STC officials state that “decisions related to the STC could only be made by the council in its entirety and under its president.” Government forces continue to retake areas from the STC in the confusion. 

Sudan

Sudan’s military-led government has returned to the capital, Khartoum, after being driven out of the capital for three years. Sudan’s government has been operating out of the Port of Sudan since then. 

North Korea

North Korea alleges that there have been two civilian drone incursions from South Korea. South Korean officials are investigating and have reached out to conduct a joint probe into the incidents, but it is unlikely that the North will respond to the request. 

Iran

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said Iran is ready for dialogue or war after claiming that the protests in his country are “under total control.” At least 490 protesters have been confirmed killed, with 48 security forces dead and 10,600 people arrested. Trump is reportedly going to be briefed on military options against Iran on Tuesday, as he vowed to intervene if Iranian protesters were killed by the regime. The internet remains down in the country despite Starlink attempting to operate in the country – regime forces have successfully jammed it.
