Israel
Today marks the second anniversary of the 7 October attacks. The US-supported peace plan is being negotiated tomorrow. Qatar says that it is too early for either optimism or pessimism.
Yemen
Israeli air defences have shot down four Houthi drones within an hour. Houthi rebels have also detained nine UN staff members, making it 53 UN staff members that have been arrested by the Houthis since 2021. There are no details about the arrests at this time.
Yemeni officials intercepted a drone shipment from Iran – destined to the Houthis. Three smugglers were arrested, and the cargo contained: “advanced military gear, drone parts, surveillance equipment, advanced electronic chips, high-accuracy cameras that are fitted on drones for night and day surveillance, communication devices, remote controls, high-capacity batteries, and carbon fibres used in drone manufacturing.”
Pakistan
Pakistan will be included in the sale of Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM), which was awarded to Raytheon. The 7 May contract did not include Pakistan as a foreign buyer, which included roughly two dozen of the US’ allies. These missiles will be used on the F-16 fleet operated by the Pakistani Air Force.
Belarus-Russia
Belarussian rail-transported oil exports to Russia jumped fourfold in September from August, as Ukrainian drone strikes have hobbled Russian oil refiners. Gasoline supplies via rail from refineries in Belarus to the Russian domestic market rose to 49,000 metric tons, or 14,500 barrels per day (bpd), last month. They also stated that diesel deliveries totalled 33,000 tons in September.
