Mali

The Turkish defence industry will be part of the defence expo in the capital of Mali, taking place from 11 to 14 November. Mali has invited over 50 countries to attend, and it is being organized by the Turkish defence company, The Peak Defense. It is seen that the Malian government wants Turkish drones and other military items so it can fight off JNIM, which has been conducting a fuel blockade for the past two months. The question, of course, is whether new equipment will make a timely impact on the current situation,

The African Union Commission has called for international action to address the security crisis in Mali.

North Korea

North Korean hackers have developed a new malware-led cyberattack that remotely controls Android smartphones and personal computers (PCs) to delete key data, including photos, documents and contact information.

France

Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy will be released from jail while he appeals against a conviction for conspiring to raise funds from Libya. The decision today comes just weeks after he began serving a five-year sentence. The court determined that he did not represent a flight risk and therefore did not have to remain in prison until a court rules on his appeal.

Japan-China

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi said a Chinese attack on Taiwan could constitute “a survival-threatening situation” for Japan requiring the use of force. In response, the Chinese Consul General Xue Jian responded with this: “We have no choice but cut off that dirty neck that has been lunged at us without hesitation. Are you ready?” The post on X was later deleted. Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Minoru Kihara said Tokyo had protested to Beijing over Xue’s X message.

South Korea

Former South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol has been indicted on additional charges of abusing power and aiding an enemy state. Prosecutors allege he attempted to provoke a military conflict with North Korea to justify his declaration of martial law last year. Evidence reportedly includes words like “drones” and “surgical strike” found on a military official’s phone, suggesting plans for provocations. Yoon, who was already removed from office by the Constitutional Court in April, is currently on trial for insurrection related to the failed declaration of martial law. If convicted, he could face the death penalty.

Belgium

Three drones were spotted flying near the Doel Nuclear Power Plant in northern Belgium. This follows the drone sightings at Belgian military bases and the Brussels airport. This drone activity in Europe is believed to be carried out by agents hired by Russia.
