Ukraine
President Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is willing to work with the US on its vision for ending the war. The Trump administration is threatening to cut off intelligence sharing and weapons to Ukraine unless it accepts the peace proposal that was put forward. US Special Envoy for Ukraine, Gen. Keith Kellogg has announced that he will be stepping down from his position, and thus leaving no pro-Ukrainian voice in the Trump administration.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov stated that Russia has not received the US proposal.
Nigeria
Nigeria convicted separatist leader Nnamdi Kanu on seven terrorism-related charges. Kanu started Radio Biafra in 2009, broadcasting from London to Nigeria and later founded the Ipob movement. He was charged with inciting violence against security forces and civilians.
Canada-US
The American ambassador to Canada stated that future trade talks depend on Canada purchasing the F-35. In recent weeks, Saab has been trying to make inroads with its Gripen fighter jet, while the Carney government continues its F-35 review… which was supposed to be concluded and released by the end of summer 2025.
Pakistan
Pakistani forces kill 23 Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan fighters in two cross-border raids into Afghanistan. Pakistan has not conducted cross-border raids into Afghanistan until just recently, marking a potential escalation in its counterterrorism operations. It is not clear whether the Afghan Taliban will increase its border security, but it is likely.
