Russia

Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov was killed by a car bomb in Moscow, marking the third killing of a senior military official this year. 

Two Russian Su-30 fighter jets have been set ablaze by Ukrainian partisans, according to the Ukrainian military intelligence service. The partisans were able to infiltrate a Russian airbase and left unharassed. 

Afghanistan

Pakistani FIeld Marhsall Munir claims that 70 percent of the Tehrik-e-Taliban fighters are Afghans. The importance is that last week, the Afghan Taliban banned any Afghan from leaving the country to conduct violent acts.

It is believed that Iran and Pakistan deported more than 2.8 million Afghans back to Afghanistan this year. The UN states that approximately 67 percent of these deportations were forced. 

Sahel

Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger established a regional security force. The 5000-strong force would ‘intervene together’ against jihadists that plague the three countries. It is also seen as a further measure of integration. Burkinabe General Daouda Traoré will lead the force from Niambey, the capital of Niger. 

Nigeria

130 schoolchildren have been freed after one month in captivity. More than 300 people were kidnapped from a Catholic boarding school in Papiri village on 21 November. All the schoolchildren have now been freed. They were rescued in a “military intelligence-driven” operation. 

Australia

Australian police claim that the two Bondi Beach shooters planned the attack for months. There have been other things divulged, including a video of what appears to be Naveed Akram sitting in front of an Islamic State flag, citing from the Quran.
