Russia

Russia claims to have taken the key city of Pokorvsk. Ukraine denies this, and fighting continues in the city. Of course, this is right before Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are to meet with President Putin to discuss peace negotiations. The Wall Street Journal recently published a scathing article on how Trump allies are pressuring for peace so they can gain financially with an economically open Russia.

Canada-EU

Canada will join Europe’s 150 billion Euro defence procurement fund. Canadian companies will be allowed to bid on procurement projects and enter the supply chain for the Security Action for Europe program, or SAFE. This will unlock economic opportunities for the Canadian defence sector. It should also be noted that the same talks regarding British companies entering the defence procurement fund have broken down.

United Kingdom

A former high-ranking officer made allegations that two former heads of the British special forces covered up potential war crimes in Afghanistan. The officer, identified only as N1466 to protect his identity, claims that they knew of war crimes as early as 2011, but did not report the instances to military police.

China-Japan

Both the Chinese and Japanese coast guards are claiming victories over one another over the disputed waters of the Diaoyu Islands, which Tokyo calls the Senkaku Islands. China claims the islands as its territory, despite the islands being administered by Japan. Relations between the two countries have worsened over the past month after Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi suggested that Japan would take military action if China were to invade Taiwan.

Nigeria

Nigeria’s defence minister, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, resigned on Monday. His resignation came as Nigeria’s president declared a nationwide emergency due to the worsening security situation and the increase in schoolgirl abductions. Other jihadist groups from the Sahel have joined Boko Haram in Nigeria to assist in their expansion.

Netherlands

Coalition talks continue, with no deal reached for a coalition government. However, the country pledged 250 million Euros toward the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) despite having no active government. It is believed that the Dutch pledge will go towards F-16 ammunition and air defence.

Georgia

The BBC claims that a toxic WWI substance known as Camite was used on demonstrators in Tbilisi. Protestors complained that the water sprayed on them burned them and could not be washed off. Georgian officials have denied accusations of using chemical weapons on protestors.

South Korea

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung proposed restoring communication with North Korea. Myung made that proposal during the launch of the 22th Peaceful Unification Advisory Council, a council whose objective is to unify the two countries, no matter how long it takes.
