Ukraine

Fog and poor weather conditions have enabled Russian soldiers to enter the city of Pokrovsk using motorcycles and civilian vehicles. It is believed that there are between 300 and 500 Russian soldiers in the city. 

China Rare Earths

China plans to ease the flow of rare earths and other restricted materials to the U.S. by designing a system that will exclude companies with ties to the U.S. military while fast-tracking export approvals for other firms. 

India & Pakistan

Terrorist attacks on the capitals of both cities resulted in the deaths of 20 people, and many more were injured. In Delhi, the attack took place near the 17th-century Red Fort, which attracts thousands of tourists a day. In Islamabad, a suicide attack killed 12 and injured a further 36. Pakistani Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said that attacks on terrorist sanctuaries in Afghanistan will not be ruled out.

Russia

Mobile internet has been suspended in areas of the central Ulyanovsk region of Russia for the duration of Russia’s “special operation in Ukraine”. The blackout will cover areas near sensitive government and military facilities, as well as some residential areas, offices, and public buildings. The full extent of the blackout is not fully known.

Venezuela 

As the USS Gerald Ford entered the American Fourth Fleet in the Caribbean, Venezuela announced a massive mobilization of its military forces, including militias. Land, air, naval and reserve forces will be undertaking exercises today. 

Canada

News that Canada is going to rely on its federal public service to bolster a Canadian army of up to 300,000. Civil servants will undergo a one-week training course on how to handle firearms, operate trucks, and fly drones. Questions of the effectiveness and whether this is also a play to bolster Canada’s defence GDP commitment to NATO are already being asked.
