Oil Production
Bahrain’s Bapco announces force majeure after an attack on its oil refinery complex. Bapco’s complex produces over 380,000 barrels of oil a day. Kuwait has also introduced a precautionary reduction in output. Last week, Qatar’s Energy Minister predicted that the price of oil per barrel would reach $150.
Prices have surged to over $119 a barrel.
The US is supplying Ukrainian anti-drone systems to its partners in the Middle East. The system, Merops, is a compact counter-drone platform developed by the U.S. company Project Eagle. It is a small interceptor drone that detects, tracks, and destroys incoming drones, including Shahed-type drones.
Turkey
A second ballistic missile originating from Iran has been shot down by NATO air defences in Turkey. Iranian ballistic missiles have targeted troops stationed in Turkey at theIncirlik airbase, which lies just outside the southern city of Adana. The US State Department cautions Americans to leave southwest Turkey due to risks.
Russia & Iran
Examination of the drone that was fired by an Iranian-aligned Lebanese group and struck the U.K. air base in Akrotiri on the island of Cyprus, contained a Russian-made Kometa-B navigation system.
This comes after reports that Russia has been providing Iran with targeting information of American military targets in the Middle East. The officials also cited that the US has not uncovered that Russia is guiding where strikes should occur, but just that the information was provided to Iran.
Belgium
An explosion outside a synagogue in the Belgian city of Liege on Monday left no people injured but blew out the windows of the synagogue. Liege Mayor Willy Demeyer said he and the city council “express their total condemnation of this extremely violent act of antisemitism, which is contrary to the Liege tradition of respect for others.” Counterterrorism police are investigating.
Germany
A meteor crashed into a house in the German city of Koblenz on Sunday, leaving a hole in the roof. No one was injured.
