Niger

Gunmen in Niger have killed 22 people during a baptism ceremony. Niger, like all Sahel countries, are dealing with a jihadist insurgency. Human Rights Watch reports that jihadist attacks have increased since March.

A poll indicates that 82% of Poles do not agree with US President Trump that Russia’s drone incursion last week was accidental. This comes as European allies are bolstering Poland’s air defences in a new NATO operation called “Eastern Sentry”. There is no time

Trump-UK

Donald Trump began his second state visit to the UK today. Protesters attempted to disrupt the visit by projecting images of the Trumps and Jeffrey Epstein together on the walls of Windsor Castle, but were arrested. 

China

China has banned tech companies in the country from buying Nvidia chips. The Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) told companies, including ByteDance and Alibaba, this week to end their testing and orders of the RTX Pro 6000D, Nvidia’s tailor-made product for the country. Nvidia shares were down. 

EU-Israel

The EU has proposed the suspension of preferential tariff treatment on more than one-third of Israeli goods exported to the bloc and expanded its sanctioning of officials in response to the crisis in Gaza. They said the measure would hit roughly 5.8 billion euros ($6.88 billion) of Israel’s exports to the bloc and result in an estimated additional 227 million euros of duties to be paid per year.

Pakistan

Pakistani security forces have killed five terrorists belonging to the Balochistan-based group Fitna-al-Hindustan, which Pakistan claims is linked with India. Weapons, ammunition and explosives were seized in the raid.
