Iran War

President Trump agreed to a two-week ceasefire with Iran. Both sides are claiming victory, and while the Strait of Hormuz will open, all ships will have to coordinate with the Iranian military, thereby demonstrating that they still control traffic through the Strait.

US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth claims that the US will remove any highly enriched uranium from Iran. It should be remembered that it is most likely that the uranium is buried underground after attacks.

Prior to the ceasefire, Iranian citizens were forming human chains around power plants, bridges and other infrastructure.

The FBI and other US agencies reported that Iran-affiliated cyber actors were targeting critical US infrastructure through programmable logic controllers (PLCs) manufactured by Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley, and potentially other PLCs.

Kuwait reports that Iranian drone attacks on the country lasted for a few hours after the ceasefire was announced. 28 Iranian drones damaged power and desalination plants as well as oil facilities.

Lebanon

Israel claims that the ceasefire does not apply to Lebanon and Israel’s operation against Hezbollah. Israel launched its “largest coordinated strike across Lebanon” with a series of strikes in Beirut.

Afghanistan-Pakistan

Pakistani Field Marshal Asim Munir stated that Operation “Ghazab-Lil-Haq” against Afghan Taliban targets is ongoing and will continue until terrorist safe havens have been destroyed. Currently, Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban are in ceasefire talks, and the talks are “progressing”.

Democratic Republic of Congo

On 8 March, AFC/M23 announced that it would release 5,000 government troops that the group had captured. The transfer of these captured government soldiers has yet to take place. It has also been reported that the AFC/M23 group is pressuring the government to accept these troops. The government states that negotiations were ongoing and highlights logistical and financial concerns, as well as concerns about the AFC/M23’s intentions.

North Korea

For a second day, North Korea fired missiles into the sea. This comes after North Korea reiterated that it has no intention of mending ties with the South. Kim Jong-un’s sister recently accepted the apology given by South Korea’s president over drone incursions in the North. This window of acceptance gave the impression that tensions may be cooling.
