Turkey-Iran

Turkish security forces have arrested a cell working for Iranian intelligence that attempted to spy on the US airbase at Incirlik. Turkish intelligence and Istanbul police detained six people across five provinces. The cell was reportedly led by Iranian intelligence agents NR, codenamed “Haji”, and MYD, codenamed “Doctor”. Five of the six suspects were Turkish nationals, while one person, identified by the initials AJ, was an Iranian citizen. They were arrested by the Istanbul Criminal Courts of Peace on charges of “obtaining confidential state information for political or military espionage purposes”.

Mexico-Cuba

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum stated that her country will show solidarity with Cuba and ship oil to the country. Mexico has become a major oil supplier to Cuba, but shipments in January were halted. Since Maduro’s capture, oil shipments from Venezuela have been halted. When pressed about when oil shipments would resume, Sheinbaum said it would be reported. Shipping oil to Cuba would enrage the Trump administration, so it may be a while.

Seized Shadow Fleet

Dubai-run GMS Ship Recycling is in talks with the US government over a licence to recycle the Russia-linked shadow fleet of oil tankers seized by the US. The US military and Coast Guard have seized seven vessels in recent weeks. The US government has filed warrants for dozens of other Shadow Fleet ships.

Canada

Sources say the Canadian government is considering a dual fleet of F-35s and Gripens. It is being proposed that half of the fleet would be Gripens. This means there might be an order for 44 of each aircraft. Currently, the Canadian government is on the hook for 16 F-35s, and a reduction from the planned 88 aircraft is being seen as a hostile policy for the Trump administration.

Chad-France

The Chadian president has been invited to France after Chad ended its military cooperation with France in November 2024. It is evident that the two countries want to improve ties. Before the end of military cooperation, France had 1,000 troops in the country to support intelligence and logistical operations. After that, the US military was ordered to leave. Since then, the Chadian government and security services have been battling Boko Haram and ISIS-West African by itself.
