Ukraine-Russia War
Russia claims that it shot down 660 Ukrainian drones overnight. Ukraine is stepping up pressure with its long-range drone strikes on Russia.
Belarus is expanding its military infrastructure along the Ukrainian border. Belarus is constructing “road infrastructure, ammunition depots, and fuel and lubricants storage facilities.” There is also the construction of a new ammunition production plant in Slutsk.
Crimean authorities declared a state of emergency after attacks on energy infrastructure and the halting of fuel sales. There are also reports of water pressure issues in Sevastopol. There are many videos of the Kerch Bridge demonstrating how many people are trying to leave Crimea. One of which is in the Social Media Wires section below.
Former Colonel Dmytro Kozyura was found guilty of spying for Russia. Kozyura was formerly the chief of staff of the Security Service of Ukraine’s (SBU) anti-terrorism centre. Kozyura was arrested in February 2025. Some of his activities included: “spying on SBU command posts and “systematically” sharing the consequences of Russian strikes, including the number of wounded soldiers and civilians.”
Iran
Iran warned that vessels still require IRGC authorization to cross the Strait of Hormuz. This comes before Iran attacked a cargo vessel that was crossing the Strait of Hormuz along the Oman coastline. Over 600 tankers are still trapped.
Montenegrin police detained an Iranian-Turkish national who was wanted for cyberattacks on US infrastructure, which allegedly caused $3.4 billlion in damage.
United States
Back in April, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth made flu shots optional for US military personnel. After a flu outbreak at the US Air Force’s boot camp at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antoni, Texas, flu shots will be mandatory once again. Nearly 300 people got sick with the flu after only 40% of the trainees at Lackland opted for the flu shot.
South Korea
South Korea will be training half a million soldiers in drone operations to counter North Korea. These “drone warriors” will be equipped with “10,000 drones by 2029 for deployment across the army, navy, air force and marines, but the ministry later revised this to about 60,000, with around 11,000 to be introduced in 2026.” South Korea will build these drones completely in South Korea using only South Korean components.
Nigeria
The Nigerian Senate approved a bill that aims to reform Nigeria’s security infrastructure. Nigerian States will now have the authority to establish state police organizations. Decentralizing national police might allow states to establish more responsive measures in the conflict-ridden country.
