Ukraine-US
A Ukrainian delegation will meet with US officials in Florida after Witkoff and Kushner’s trip to Moscow. Putin is still making his territorial demands. It is unclear that any progress has been made.
European Union
The European Union announced that it will phase out all Russian gas imports under long-term pipeline deals by 30 September 2027. LNG imports will cease on 1 January 2027. The European Commission will draft a plan for Slovakia and Hungary to stop importing Russian oil by 2027.
Norway-United Kingdom
The two countries have signed an agreement to protect underwater sea cables and to hunt Russian submarines in the North Atlantic. Under the agreement, the two countries will operate a fleet of Type-26 frigates. There has been a 30% increase in the number of detected Russian vessels in the North Atlantic over the past two years.
United States
An undisclosed official claims that the boat attack on a Venezuelan drug boat on 2 September was hit four times and not twice. The official claims that the ship was twice targeted to kill those who were on board and twice again to sink the boat. Secretary of War Hegseth says he saw the initial strike but did not stick around afterward due to his schedule.
The Pentagon Inspector General concluded that Hegseth endangered the lives of soldiers when he exposed classified material on Signal. The unclassified version of the report is set to be released today.
Pakistan
UN aid destined for Afghanistan has been cleared by Pakistani authorities. The Pakistani government suspended customs clearance for exports and imports in October. The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and the Directorate General of Transit Trade issued a letter to initiate the transfer of goods for three UN agencies.
