Iran War
The United States expanded its strikes in Iran by targeting further north. Iran retaliated by firing missiles and drones, targeting Bahrain, Jordan and Kuwait. The US also disabled a cargo ship that was attempting to run the blockade.
Lebanon
Syria’s interior ministry claimed that a shipment destined for Hezbollah in Lebanon was intercepted on the Iraqi border. The shipment included missiles and 150 weaponized drones. The weapons were being smuggled in an empty oil tanker. Images of the seized weapons show anti-tank missiles and FPV drones with fibre-optic spools.
United States
US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth announced that the military will be conducting testosterone checks on servicemen over 30 during their annual medical screening. Hegseth stated that this would be necessary for them to operate at their best. Trump administration officials have been advocating for easier access to testosterone replacement therapies, though this is not seen as part of that.

Ukraine
Over a thousand people took to the streets in Kyiv to protest the removal of Defence Minister Fedorov. Fedorov admitted that he pushed for Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi to be replaced. Syrskyi has been criticized for his heavily centralized command-and-control style, which was used by the Soviet Union and many post-Soviet militaries. Fedorov, a technocrat, favours a Western approach that empowers the lower ranks to exercise tactical flexibility in carrying out orders.
Ukraine’s deputy air force commander, Colonel Pavlo Yelizarov, resigned over the dismissal of Fedorov. Fedorov prioritized reforming Ukraine’s air defence sector, and Yelizarov warned that Fedorov’s removal would cause more casualties and destruction in Ukraine from Russian missile and drone attacks.
Fedorov recently filed paperwork that could direct billions in EU loan funds to European and U.S. anti-ballistic missile technology for Ukraine. The loan application through the EU is believed to be for the purchase of Patriot PAC-3 interceptor missiles, which are not produced by the EU and would need a special exemption.
Nigeria
Boko Haram and Islamic State-West African Province (ISWAP) are using AI models including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and DeepSeek to support various stages of military planning. A former Boko Haram commander said that the group asked an AI chatbot how to modify motorcycles so they could bypass a defensive trench. Former Islamic State commanders said that they have used AI to answer technical questions about explosives.
South Korea
President Trump stated at the Defense and Innovation Summit at the US Army War College that the US will work with South Korea on shipbuilding as part of an effort to reinforce the US Navy. Trump has not ruled out building US naval vessels in South Korea. Hanwha Ocean did purchase a shipyard in Philadelphia, so it is still unclear whether shipbuilding will take place in South Korea or by firms in the US.
