Iran Ceasefire

Iran delivered a new proposal for talks with the US via Pakistan, according to Iranian state media.

US CENTCOM has requested the deployment of the Dark Eagle hypersonic missile. If it is deployed, it will be the first time it has ever been deployed. The hypersonic missile system has faced years of delays and technical setbacks. The Dark Eagle has a range of up to 1,700 miles and costs around $15 million each. The request was made as Iranian missile launchers have been moved further into the interior of Iran, out of range of US missiles.

Iran is increasing its efforts to dig out missiles and munitions from bombed storage. Iran is using the time granted by the ceasefire to dig out these munitions that were deemed inaccessible after the US bombed the sites.

The White House is grasping at straws, saying that the ceasefire with Iran delays the 60-day deadline for an operation without Congressional approval.

Mali

The Alliance of the Sahel (AES), which is comprised of Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso, states that they have carried out an intense air campaign against jihadists and Tuareg separatists. The AES created a joint force of 5,000 soldiers to fight jihadists and increased that number to 15,000 in mid-April.

The Malian army, with its Russian Africka Corps mercenaries, surrendered a strategic northern military stronghold near the Algerian border. Tuareg rebels have taken the “super camp,” and “no clashes took place” during the rebel forces’ capture of Tessalit, as it is being reported that the soldiers and mercenaries have already left.

Lebanon

Hezbollah claims that it has reinforced its positions in the south of Lebanon with additional fighters and weapons. Hezbollah affirms that they are prepared for a long battle with Israeli forces.

Afghanistan-Pakistan

Informal talks between the Afghan Taliban and Pakistan in Türkiye ended without an agreement. The discussions were focused and frank about the Islamic State and Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan. There were differences over formally recognizing the TTP as a terrorist group.

Russia

For the fourth time, Ukrainian drones have hit the port of Tuapse. Fires broke out at the site once again. Officials have not made any comments about the reported fire at the oil refinery.

Canada

Gen. Jennie Carignan, the chief of the defence staff, is finalizing options for the government to massively increase the size of the Canadian Armed Forces, both regular and reserve. There are concerns about rapidly increasing the number of troops, as the CAF does not have enough uniforms and other equipment for a proposed force of 500,000.

It seems that Canada will be buying the American-made M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS). The Pentagon secured a contract with Lockheed Martin to manufacture weapons systems for allied countries, including Canada.
