US-Iran

On the orders of President Trump, CENTCOM lifted the maritime blockade in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, stated that he does not share the same sentiment as Iran’s president, but approves the peace deal with the United States.  His statement was read on state television and has not yet been seen in public or on any recording. Khamenei also remarked that the US made the deal out of desperation.

US-Iran peace talks were supposed to begin today, but were called off. Vice-President Vance dropped plans to travel to Geneva for the talks. The talks were called off due to fighting in Lebanon.

Israel and Hezbollah have reached a ceasefire agreement. If it holds, it may foster an outcome between the US and Iran during the peace talks. Any violations could derail the peace negotiations, if they occur.

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani is cancelling his trip to the US, where he was to meet with Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The reason is that President Trump made false claims about the country’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Trump claims that Meloni begged him to have a photo taken with him at the G7 meeting.

A Taliban drone was shot down near Shinko in Khyber district. Pakistan published photos of the drone, which crashed far from populated areas. The Taliban claim that Pakistan conducted strikes in Afghanistan, which Pakistan denies.
